Mark Wesley Meadows
Owner, Designer, and Craftsman
Born in Missouri City, TX, Mark is a Texas native. He lived in Louisiana for about ten years before moving to West Virginia during high school. Even at a young age, Mark’s work ethic and love for creating, designing, and woodworking were evident. Growing up, you could find Mark helping his dad in the yard, trimming trees, tending to the garden, building houses/furniture/barns/you-name-it, and creating beautiful things from nothing at all. After graduating, Mark attended Shepherd University and West Virginia University. During his college days, he worked at a few automotive shops, requiring him to work with his hands with grit and determination. After moving back to the Lone Star state back in 2015, he continued working in the car industry. He and his wife, Marlaena, had always dreamed of starting a business together, but it was never the right time. In 2017, Mark and Marlaena welcomed their son Wesley into the world, and as all parents know, everything changed. Mark was working upwards of 70 hours a week, leaving very little time for his family, let alone time to pursue hobbies. So in 2019, after very much prayer, Mark decided to take a huge leap of faith and left the automotive industry. Mark now had more time to think and pursue his hobbies than he had had in a decade. Within the first week, he had already built a gate, shelves, and the most beautiful table this side of the Mississippi. It was gorgeous, timeless, handcrafted, and solid wood. After sharing pictures of it in social media, people wanted more, giving birth to what we now call MWM Designs. Mark loves what he does and works with such integrity and attention to detail. He puts God first, seeks God’s will, and leads his family and his business with Jesus at the core of it all. He is just an all-around amazing, good guy you are guaranteed to love.
Update: In 2021 the MWM Designs family grew by one more when we welcomed our second son MIlo!
Marlaena Anne Meadows
Everything Else
Marlaena was born and raised in the Wild & Wonderful state of West Virginia. Raised by a single Momma, she knows grit and resilience. Growing up you could find her at her Meemaw and Peewag's house planting and harvesting green beans and tomatoes, or in the basement building/painting/staining a new creation with Peewag. You might also have found her outside running one of her many "start ups" selling garden vegetables, homemade pot holders, or the classic - lemonade. One day, during an Outdoor Club meeting in eleventh grade, God tapped Marlaena on the shoulder as she spotted Mark across the room. (She had zero clue that that was the start of a chain of events that has landed them here today - running their own business.) Marlaena and Mark were married in 2013, barely even old enough to toast at their wedding. After Marlaena graduated from WVU with her Master's in Elementary Education, they moved to Texas all wide-eyed and bushy tailed. In 2017, Marlaena became a Momma to the most wonderful mini-human on the planet. She is currently running all the things here at MWM Designs, as well as teaching 2nd graders how to read and write and -most importantly - be all who God called them to be.
